A long-time resident of Ithaca, photographer Martha Wright captures the extraordinary in the ordinary. Wright finds inspiration in the day-to-day changes of the world around her. She notices the smallest change; the quality of light shifting from winter to spring, a plant unfurling the smallest bit, and shadows moving across a leaf.

Wright has been a resident of Ithaca since 1961, and a part of the downtown community for the last 20 years. With a degree in childhood development from Cornell University, she worked as a psychotherapist for many years. Wright’s love of photography led to this collection of scenes of life in a small pond near the Ithaca Farmer’s Market. She captured these beautifully-composed images from 1996 to 1998, while walking with her dog.
