Look Back with Barbara Page

Visitors will learn more about the iconic mural that greets them as they travel down the ramp in the Museum of the Earth as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary this year. Rock of Ages, Sands of Time is a series of 544-three dimensional paintings that function as a visible metaphor for an eon, or 550 million years, of Earth’s past. Each tile represents one million years of history, featuring fossil flora and fauna in chronological order and at true scale.

Nationally-renowned Trumansburg-based artist Barbara Page began the masterpiece before the Museum opened in 2003, and this exhibit features her notes, sketches, and draft illustrations.
